In Tijuca National Park, at the top of Corcovado Hill at 704 m above sea level the town symbol of Rio the Janeiro is located. The well known, 1000 tons weighting Christ the Redeemer seen from every corner of the metropolis. It is the best known Brazilian image in the world.
Every year, more than 600 thousand people are taken to Christ the Redeemer by the centenary Corcovado Railroad, the oldest touristic tour in the country.
Clear sight allows especially in the evenings a spectacular view on the Southern town districts of
Leblon, Ipanema, Copacabana and on Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas close to the Botanical Garden (Jardim Botanico).
Sugarloaf, Botafogo Bay, Niteroi Bridge, Rio downtown and the Maracana Soccer Stadium are other interesting parts of the city.
How to get to the Christ statue
Visitors can reach the monument through the Corcovado train, a Corcovado van service or on foot.

Corcovado train
The trains leave from the station that is at Cosme Velho and the ticket sales occurs through the
site www.tremdocorcovado.rio and also physically at the train station.

VANs to Christ statue
The official Corcovado van service sell tickets at www.paineirascorcovado.com.br and also physically at the departure points of the vans, which are located in the neighborhoods of Largo do Machado, Copacabana, Barra da Tijuca and from the Paineiras Visitor Center, which is in the Park’s Serra da Carioca sector. On foot to the Christ statue
Tourists who wish to reach Corcovado on foot and want to access Christ the Redeemer should pay only the ticket to access Christ.
This ticket is purchased directly at the ticket office of the Corcovado Train that is on top of Corcovado.
In this place, the entrance ticket is sold and only the value of the ticket to the monument is charged.
