Between Copacabana Fort and Ipanema Beach is located Arpoador in Rio de Janeiro, beautiful district for living and one of the most famous spots on the city’s shore.
Arpoador Beach has gained fame as a stronghold for surfers and a stage to watch the sunset.
It is one of the favorite beaches for Cariocas and tourists for the beauty of its landscape and the practice of surfing, both in summer and winter. The district Arpoador is actually a part of Ipanema, it has 800 m of extension between the Copacabana Fort and Francisco Otaviano Street with Vieira Souto Avenue.
The name of the place comes from the fact that, in the past, it was possible to harpoon whales (Arpoador = Harpooner). The place was used by fishermen (“arpoadores”) for viewing and later fishing with harpoons of the whales that approached the place.
Don’t forget to visit the Arpoador rocks, the most beautiful place to enjoy the sea and the sunset! From the top of Arpoador Rock, which you reach by very short and easily accessible trails, you can see the beaches of Ipanema and Leblon, as well as Morro Dois Irmãos.
In the region of Arpoador, you will find the Ipanema Girl Park (Parque Garota de Ipanema), named after the famous music of Vinícius de Moraes and Tom Jobim. Besides being a recreation and leisure point, the park also serves as a stage for performances by well-known artists.
At the beachfront of Arpoador you find a small dead end street, the Avenida Francisco Bhering.
Here some of the most expensive real estates of latin america are located.
The reason for AAA location: There is no traffic at all in this street, you can enjoy the beautiful view to the Arpoador rock all days and within 10 meters from your building you are on this beautiful sandy beach.
