Niterói

From Rio downtown you get to Niterion either by crossing the 15.5 kilometers long Niteroi Bridge or taking the ferry at Praca 15 de Novembro which opens a wonderful view on Rio de Janeiro. Niteroi is the home of many students and the crime rate is far lower than in Rio downtown. Bars and discos offer a completely different – more Brazilian – atmosphere. Beaches are very clean. Above all in the evenings the view from here on Niteroi Bridge, Rio downtown, Sugarloaf and Christ the Redeemer are breathtaking.
