| This most famous beach of the world reaches out 4 kilometers and is the embodiment of vitality. Soccer, volleyball, beach ball or gymnastics you will find people doing sports around the clock. There are countless restaurants and many bars lure with cool drinks. At weekends one lane of the Avenida Atlantica going along the beach is closed. This opens space for myriads of bikers, inline skaters or strollers. On New Years day the whole road is closed to traffic and open for up to 2 million celebrating people. |

Hint: On official holidays or sunny weekends this area is extremely crowded. Only take items to the beach that you really need. After sunset the whole beach boardwalk is well illuminated and safe. Nevertheless don’t carry unnecessary valuables with you and better hire a taxi after midnight. |
